“Thank you @FoxNews “Huge win for President Trump and GOP in Georgia Congressional Special Election.”
In beating Ossoff, Handel won a vacant seat in suburban Atlanta that has been in GOP hands since former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won it in 1978.
The campaign, the most expensive House in U.S. history, was more competitive this year, as Ossoff was fueled by more than $23 million financed by energized liberals motivated in opposition to Trump.
In a text to campaign supporters Tuesday night, Trump referred to Democrats as being in “total disarray,” chiding the party for losing other recent special elections in Montana, Kansas and South Carolina.
“Congrats to Karen Handel on a HUGE win in GA! Democrats lose again (0-4). Total disarray. The MAGA Mandate is stronger than ever. BIG LEAGUE,” he said before acknowledging the other Republican victory of the night, that of Republican congressional candidate Ralph Norman, who won South Carolina’s special election.
Ralph Norman ran a fantastic race to win in the Great State of South Carolina’s 5th District. We are all honored by your success tonight!
