It seems some Hollywood A-listers are getting mad at Rep. Michele Bachmann for her attitude towards gay people. Singer/songwriter and “American Idol” veteran Adam Lambert reacted to Bachmann’s appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, where she said “I don’t judge gays” when asked about anti-gay remarks she made in 2004. Lambert tweeted that her views were “ignorant” and added, “I usually steer clear of politics but she is a bully. Kids get teased in school by offspring of this type of parent.”
Cher tweeted against the Minnesota conservative after the Republican debates last week, raising the issue of Bachmann’s husband’s sexuality: “On cover of Newsweek under M.Bachman’s picture it said “Queen of Rage”, but there’s only” One Raging Queen”In her house ! Not mine !” Cher then referenced the alarming number of LGBT suicides in Bachmann’s district.
But America’s most famous D-lister, comedian Kathy Griffin, has had the most direct approach with Bachmann. She told Conan O’Brien Monday night about a time when she met Bachmann in Washington when she was rallying for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell — and she asked the presidential candidate if she would support the repeal effort while one of her staffers recorded them. When Bachmann said no, Griffin asked, “Congresswoman Bachmann, were you born a bigot or did you, like, grow into it?”
Bachmann stayed cool through the encounter though, calmly replying, “That’s a good question. I’m gonna have to get back to ya.”
