The federal government launched an investigation into California’s statewide governing body that oversees athletics after the organization ignored President Donald Trump’s new policies on transgender sports. 

The Department of Education announced this week it was investigating the California Interscholastic Federation, which overlooks more than 1,500 high schools, for declaring it would disregard Trump’s recent executive order titled Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.
