An Arlington County police officer was seriously injured in an early-morning crash in the Ballston area.
Police said the officer was responding to a call when the cruiser collided with another car at the intersection of North Glebe Road and Washington Boulevard shortly after 2:15 a.m.
The officer was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The officer is 40 years old and has worked for the police department for about five years. No other information about the officer was released.
The driver of the other car, a 21-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries, police said.
Police said the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
