Let’s count the similarities and cut the guy some slack: they’re both brunette, 50ish, have been executive branch aspirants, use outdoorsy scenes of tranquility as their Twitter page background images, and were the recipients of flattering, not-at-all-tasteless Newsweek covers. Natural error.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) was one of several members of Congress who gathered with veterans Wednesday at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., in defiance of the government’s shutdown-induced blockade of the landmark. One attendee, however, mistook the Minnesota Republican for an ex-Alaskan governor, DCist reported.
“Bachmann greeted the veterans by thanking them for their service and introducing herself as ‘a member of Congress in Washington,'” the outlet wrote. “At one point, a veteran yelled ‘Sarah!’ as Bachmann approached him. She kindly explained that she is not, in fact, Sarah Palin.”
The funny misperception didn’t appear to wear on Bachmann’s day.

Bachmann and multiple colleagues helped veterans gain access to the memorial Monday, when the first instance of it being barricaded was reported.
“About maybe eight to 12 of us members, one member had a scissor cut the tape and then we just escorted the veterans in,” Bachmann said, The Blaze reported. “You should have seen these veterans. They had smiles from ear to ear. They were thrilled.”
