A Republican member of the House Armed Services Committee said U.S. generals should resign “in a blaze of glory” if they disagree with President Obama’s foreign policy.
Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado made the remarks Sept. 13 in Colorado Springs at a liberty group meeting, according to a report on Medium.
“A lot of us are talking to the generals behind the scenes, saying, ‘Hey, if you disagree with the policy that the White House has given you, let’s have a resignation,’” Lamborn said during a question-and-answer part of the forum.
“‘You know, let’s have a public resignation, and state your protest, and go out in a blaze of glory,’” Lamborn continued. “And I haven’t seen that very much, in fact I haven’t seen that at all in years.”
Lamborn represent’s Colorado’s military-heavy 5th Congressional District, which Mitt Romney carried with 59 percent of the vote in 2012.
