Michelle Obama jumps into Georgia runoff with robocalls for Raphael Warnock

Former first lady Michelle Obama is harnessing her popularity to help Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) in the final stretch of his runoff against Republican challenger Herschel Walker.

Obama recorded two robocalls asking Georgians to vote for the incumbent Democrat. In the first, she encourages Georgians to get their votes in during early voting, which ends on Friday. The second is an Election Day voting reminder to those who have yet to cast their ballots.

“This election is going to be very close, and there are a lot of folks on the other side hoping you stay home,” she said. “But we need you to get out and vote one more time for Raphael Warnock. Rev. Warnock will always fight for Georgia, and in the Senate, he’s proven he can get things done.”

“Early voting has already begun, and there’s no reason to wait until Election Day,” she added. “Go to www.warnock.vote to learn more. I hope you’ll join me in supporting Raphael Warnock.”

Obama’s husband, former President Barack Obama, will travel to Atlanta on Thursday to headline a get-out-the-vote rally for Warnock.

Warnock and Walker are locked in a tight runoff race after neither candidate pulled in enough votes for an outright win during the general election.

Early voting kicked off over the weekend and ends Friday. More than 300,000 voters on Monday cast their ballots, breaking the state’s record for a single day of early voting.

“Just…WOW! GA voters, facilitated through the hard work of county election & poll workers, have shattered the old Early Vote turnout, with 300,438 Georgians casting their votes today,” Georgia elections official Gabriel Sterling tweeted.
