WATCH: Kaylee McGhee White says Mar-a-Lago raid may affect GOP voters in midterms

The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee White predicted in a Fox News Live appearance on Sunday that the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort will have an impact on the November midterm elections, especially with GOP voters.

Asked about the 45th president’s rise in poll numbers among Republicans in the last month, White argued that Trump’s message about “draining the swamp” and fighting against the establishment was boosted by last Monday’s search of his Palm Beach, Florida, residence. The unprecedented search, she noted, proved his arguments about the federal government.

“Well, if you’re Donald Trump and you’re running a hypothetical campaign, since he hasn’t announced yet, against the establishment, against the federal government in the deep state that is out to get you, the FBI and DOJ and the Democratic Party just handed him a silver platter of a victory,” she explained. “This is exactly what he needed to rally Republicans around him, especially since it’s not quite clear whether he’s going to run again or if other Republicans like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis might try and run against him.”

“This was a great rallying moment for him, and he’s going to use that political momentum moving forward,” she continued.

Asked what the top concern for voters will be in the midterm elections, White listed the economy and inflation as the greatest concern but said she believed the latest FBI raid developments would end up being a factor.

“Well, the economy is definitely the No. 1 issue,” White said. “Every single poll that we’ve seen over the past several months has voters rating the economy, inflation, grocery prices, gas prices as their No. 1 concern, and that’s not going to change no matter how Democrats tried to spin this.”

“The second thing is, I do think the FBI raid is going to have some effect, especially among Republican voters. You have about 48% of the country right now, of all political affiliations, think that the DOJ’s raid was politically motivated,” she added. “Forty percent of the country believes that — that is going to have an effect on November.”
