Sorry David’s Bridal employees: Obamacare forces company to move workers to part time

Thanks to Obamacare, employees at more than 300 locations of David’s Bridal now have a tough choice to make: either accept their new 30-hour work week — sans health insurance — or find somewhere else to work.

According to reporting done by The Daily Caller and WeaselZippers, managers for the chain of bridal stores received an email from CEO Pamela B. Wallack last week. The email detailed that all employees would now be part-time, in order to avoid paying for their health insurance under the requirements of Obamacare.

Store managers were forbidden from discussing the contents of the email, The Daily Caller reported, but five managers did confirm they had received the correspondence. Additional questions were referred to the corporate office.

The wedding attire company employs more than 2,500 individuals in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

David’s Bridal joins the ranks of other employers — including SeaWorld — who have cut workers’ hours to fewer than 30 per week, the minimum at which companies must provide health insurance for their employees.
