Sam Donaldson: Redskins received a “terrible shellacking”

ABC News veteran Sam Donaldson made a quick exit after Monday night’s “Kalb Report,” being taped at the National Press Club, to go watch the ill-fated Washington Redskins play the Philadelphia Eagles.

“You can’t have lived in this town for almost 50 years without being a Redskins fan,” Donaldson told Yeas & Nays, though he, like the rest of Washington, was appalled by the game’s 59-28 result in favor of the Eagles.

“It was awful, let’s face it,” he said. “It was a terrible shellacking.”

Even though the Eagles were up by 28 after the first quarter, Donaldson rushed out of the press club during the event’s Q&A session and made it to the game, staying to the bitter end.

“Hey, there’s always a chance,” he shrugged.

Asked if he would continue to cheer for the home team, he answered in the affirmative.

“If I’m invited again, I’ll go.”
