While “Kane and Lynch” and “Conflict: Denied Ops” tried and failed to capture realistic co-op tactics, “Army of Two” gets it right.
On two-man merc assignments from the DoD, you go through Afghanistan, Iraq and other politically charged areas to take out designated targets and score taxpayer dollars to buy new or upgrade existing weapons.
An “Aggro meter” tells you if enemy fire is directed toward you or your teammate. This creates excellent opportunities for flanking and advanced tactics.
“Army of Two” not only gives you the feel of more realistic enemy AI, but the characters themselves seem like real teammates as they high-five or smack one another upside the head.
If you need something to fill the void as you wait for “Gears of War 2,” check out “Army of Two.”
