K-12 students receiving free breakfast on the rise in the U.S.

Washington, D.C., is seeing a rapid growth in the number of K-12 students eating a free breakfast at school.

In the District, the rate went up by 72 percent between 2009 to 2013, from 20,431 participating students to 35,038. Compared to all 50 states, D.C. saw the fastest growth.
