The political fight over GMOs has gotten fairly contentious on both sides over the past couple of years. With one side arguing that the evidence against them is not enough to warrant all of the added government regulation and the other claiming that any health benefits make it worth it.
Jimmy Kimmel decided to take on the issue Wednesday night with one of his man-on-the-street videos and his findings, though not surprising, shouldn’t be too encouraging for the anti-GMO crowd.
“There has been legislation against GMOs. You see documentaries and angry Facebook posts about it. How many of you don’t want GMOs in your body?” Kimmel asked the audience. He was met with cheers.
“As I usually do when people take a stance on a particular issue, I wondered how many people who were against GMOs really know what they are,” Kimmel said.
He sent a crew out to a local farmer’s market to find out why they were against GMOs and what the letters stood for.
P.S. It stands for “Genetically Modified Organism.” And opposing GMOs has nothing to do with the “vibrations” of the food.
