Republican Senate candidate on how he’d handle Washington: ‘Let’s blow it up’

Patrick Morrisey, a Republican Senate candidate in West Virginia, said in a new ad that changing Washington isn’t enough, and that he wants to “blow it up.”

In a campaign ad released Wednesday, Morrisey showed voters they can count on him to drop a physical mountain of conservative values onto the U.S. Capitol if he wins the GOP primary on May 8 and defeats Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin six months later.

“Let’s not just change Washington. Let’s blow it up and reinvent it. That’s better,” he said in a campaign ad released Wednesday. “We’ll take on Washington liberals — keep their hands off our guns, stop their pro-abortion agenda.”

Morrisey, currently the Mountain State’s attorney general, is hoping to win the GOP primary on May 8, in order to face Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin in November. He also used the ad to boast about his successful coal mining and illegal immigration lawsuits against the Obama administration.

The GOP candidate jumped into the race last July and is running against Rep. Evan Jenkins for the Republican nomination. He is the first Republican to serve as West Virginia’s attorney general since 1933.
