Woman shot outside Silver Spring home A 37-year-old Silver Spring woman was shot and killed outside her Briggs Chaney-area apartment, Montgomery County police said.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday, police responded to the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard for a report of shots fired. They found the woman at the entrance of the Ashford at Woodlake complex on an elevated walkway that led from the parking lot to the woman’s apartment building.

Escaped inmates nabbed

U.S. Marshals captured two inmates who escaped last week while working on a fence at a Maryland prison complex near Hagerstown.

Members of the U.S. Marshals’ regional fugitive task force found Matthew Chait, 26, of Germantown, and Michael Johnson, 24, of Sykesville, at about 11 p.m. Tuesday at Brown’s Motel in Ellicott City.

Chait was serving five years for a 2006 robbery with a deadly weapon, plus a consecutive two-year sentence for a 2006 vehicle theft.

Johnson was serving 8 1/2 years for a 2004 burglary.

Body in woods ruled a homicide

A body found in a wooded area in Upper Marlboro has been ruled a homicide, police said.

Hugo Migdael Cambara-Zuniga, 28, of Hyattsville, was found in a grove of woods on the 14300 block of Oak Grove Road on Aug. 16.

Coins dumped on highway

An armored car dumped a load of coins on U.S. Route 301 in Bowie, Prince George’s County police said.

The back door flew open and the coins spilled on the highway at about 9 a.m. Tuesday. Police did not know how many coins were spilled.
