Busch Beer launches alcohol-free Dog Brew

Beer lovers now have the chance to enjoy a cold one with man’s best friend.

Busch Beer announced the release of its Dog Brew on Wednesday. The canine cocktail is an alcohol-free bone broth that features a “dog-friendly flavor and nutrients that dogs can enjoy before a long hike or a hard day of play at the park,” the company said in a news release.

The Dog Brew, which comes in an orange Busch can with a bone logo on the front, includes ingredients such as bone-in pork butt, whole corn, celery, basil, mint, turmeric, and ginger. The “beer” is being sold in four-packs online for $9.99.

“After a long day, there’s nothing quite like having a Busch with a friend, and with so many new pet owners across America this year, we wanted to create a brew to give our fans a chance to share a Busch brew with their ‘best friend,'” said Daniel Blake, vice president of value brands at Anheuser-Busch.

During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Busch ran a promotion offering two 24-pack cases of beer per month for three months to the first 500 people who adopted or fostered a dog from Midwest Animal Rescue & Services. The company said that $1 from every purchase of a case of Dog Brew (six four-packs) would be donated to Best Friends Animal Society up to $50,000.

“We’re proud to be able to partner with Best Friends Animal Society and continue our efforts to help those furry friends still looking for a home,” Blake said.

But can humans also share Dog Brew?

“Suuure, if that’s what you’re into! We here at Busch do not judge. BUT this bone broth is made for a dog’s refined palate. You may find it pretty bland & yes, we’ve tried it a few times. Part of the job,” the company said on its website.
