Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night after a brief suspension for controversial remarks he made in the aftermath of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In his opening monologue, Kimmel touched on various subjects, including his comments that triggered the controversy, a clarification of what he meant to say, the importance of free speech, and criticisms of President Donald Trump and Brendan Carr, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. However, he also spoke about Kirk’s widow, Erika, praising her decision to forgive the assassin who killed her husband. Kimmel said he was moved by those words and that she is someone “we should follow.”
