Veteran NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw predicted that the presidential election will be contested, no matter who is the winner.

Tuesday on NBC, Brokaw, former anchor of the NBC “Nightly News” broadcast said he expected either Democrat Hillary Clinton or her Republican opponent Donald Trump to question the outcome of so-far tight election.

“Well, I mean, if it comes down to it, and now I think it will, for one or the other in just a point or two, at the end of the night, it’ll be contested by I think by either side at this point,” he said. “Not only that, but the country will be in a kind of state of suspension for a long time, until we get it all worked out. Now, we survived all that when we went through it in 2000 and we’ll do it again.”

As Election Day results rolled in it turned out to be a much closer race than many in the news media had expected. With a strong showing in swing states, the New York Times has Trump as favored to win the election.
