President Donald Trump‘s job approval rating fell to 36% this month, the lowest of his second term, according to a new Gallup poll published Friday.
The president’s approval rating took a 5 percentage point tumble since the last Gallup poll in October, following three months of relative stability in which around 40% of Americans approved of his handling of the presidency.
The latest poll was collected following the 2025 off-year elections earlier this month as well as the longest federal government shutdown in United States history, which was finally resolved on Nov. 12.
The 36% approval rating is the lowest of Trump’s second term, but his all-time low was in 2021 following the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol, which was only 34% approval.
Republicans and Independents have lowered their approval ratings of Trump in the past month. Republican approval fell seven points to 84%, and independent approval slipped eight points to only 25%.
That marks Trump’s lowest rating among Republicans in his second term and the lowest ranking from Independents in either term.
Most Americans see Trump’s handling of healthcare as his worst issue, with only 30% of respondents approving of the way he is handling the issue.
Healthcare has always been a sore spot for the GOP, but it has become a major battle in recent weeks as fixing expiring Obamacare premium subsidies was at the heart of the government shutdown crisis.
