While defending his father’s occasional early morning Twitter outbursts, Eric Trump argued that Donald Trump’s energy is to blame, adding it can be a “downfall” of his from time to time.
Ahead of Tuesday’s vice presidential debate, Eric Trump reiterated that his father’s late-night messages are a sign that he would be awake to answer the call. However, he revealed that the GOP nominee can go overboard occasionally thanks to his “energy.”

“Listen, at least my father’s up at 3 o’clock in the morning, which is great,” Eric Trump said on Fox News. “Maybe that energy sometimes is a little bit of a downfall of his, but he’s an amazing guy and he’ll be there to answer the call when things go bad. I think people appreciate that.
“The one thing I’ll say about my father is he works harder than any human being alive,” he continued. “He’s a worker. He’s worked tirelessly on this campaign. He’s worked tirelessly his entire career, and he’ll work tirelessly for America.”
Hours after unleashing a 3 a.m. tweetstorm Friday against former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, in which he urged his supporters to “check out” her sex tape, he sent a tweet to those “knocking” him for being awake at the time.
“For those few people knocking me for tweeting at three o’clock in the morning, at least you know I will be there, awake, to answer the call!” Trump wrote.
