Have them vote after the fact!

On first glance, it seemed that Mitt Romney supporters were encouraging not only early voting but late voting by his fans in Florida.

An e-mail sent out to fellow Romney backers by lawyer Charlie Spies on Friday pleaded with recipients to participate in phone banks at his Penn Quarter home on Sunday and at the Kamlet Shepherd & Reichert law offices on Monday. The plan: Call Florida voters in advance of the GOP primary “to pull Mitt through to victory in FLORIDA (and then onward and upward!).”

Only one problem: The invite told them to show up on Sunday, Feb. 3, and Monday, Feb. 4 — five and six days, respectively, after the Tuesday primary.

An organizer e-mailed us, “It was a typo! We are very sorry for this.”

Typo aside, the e-mail encourages phone bankers to bring “Your cell phone & charger, Energy and Enthusiasm, and a message of Victory to FLORIDA Voters.”

And, we might add, a calendar.
