She died at the scene.

Camera footage, a witness account and the train operator’s comments all lead Metro to believe she did it intentionally, he said. Her name was not released.

Trains shared a single track between Medical Center and Friendship Heights, delaying riders about five to seven minutes, but train service was not affected Monday morning.

Her death was the ninth on the transit system so far this year, and the seventh suicide, according to Metro. Four others have survived being hit by trains after intentionally or accidentally falling into the tracks.
<table style=”float: right; border-collapse: collapse; background-color: aliceblue; padding: 5px 0pt; margin: 5px 15px 5px 0pt; width: 290px; font-family: arial; font-size: 11px; line-height: 12px; border: 1px solid #efe1ab; box-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #cccccc;” border=”0″ cellspacing=”0″ cellpadding=”0″>

Related Coverage

More news from Maryland

Metro is currently training workers on how to spot and intervene with suicidal riders.
