Whitmer and Dixon midterm debate live: Michigan governor candidates meet in second clash


The second debate between Michigan’s gubernatorial candidates will be held Tuesday night, with Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Republican candidate Tudor Dixon squaring off once more.

The two women will be debating each other only two weeks ahead of the election, with Whitmer seeking a second term in office. The debate comes as the race between the two has become closer in recent weeks, with Dixon gaining ground on her opponent.

Whitmer and Dixon debated each other on Oct. 13, with both candidates sharing their views on major issues for voters in the midterm elections, including crime, abortion, and education.

A Mitchell-MIRS poll conducted on Wednesday found the Michigan governor holding a slight lead over her Trump-endorsed challenger, with Whitmer at 49% and Dixon at 47%, with 3% of voters undecided. The poll surveyed a total of 541 likely voters and had a margin of error of 4.21 percentage points, according to Upper Michigan Source.
