It has been 200 days since Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton held a formal press conference in which members of the press can ask her questions.
She has participated in numerous sit-down interviews with various members of the press and the entertainment industry, and she has delivered multiple campaign speeches. Clinton has also taken the occasional question from reporters covering her second run at the White House.
But these are examples of events that have been orchestrated and carefully choreographed with the Clinton campaign. As many conservatives have pointed out, a taped interview with Ellen DeGeneres is not the same thing as facing a gaggle of reporters eager to make their mark by catching the candidate with an uncomfortable question.
The last time that Clinton hosted a press conference was on Dec. 4, 2015, before a single vote had been cast in the Democratic presidential primary, according to the Washington Post. It was also a little before it became clear that Donald Trump would become the presumed GOP nominee.
