It’s Christmas in P.G.

Teams of volunteers in Prince George’s County are going to spend Saturday repairing more than 80 homes for low-income or physically challenged residents.

The Christmas in April program involves months of planning but culminates every year on the last Saturday of April. The program began in 1989, according to Chris Wallace, a community liaison in the county’s government.

Wallace said after Saturday’s work day, volunteers will have worked on 2,084 homes and made $35 million worth of home improvements in the program’s history.

County Executive Rushern Baker will participate, he said.
