Man charged in Illinois bowling alley shooting that left three dead and three injured

A man has been charged in a shooting inside a bowling alley in Rockford, Illinois, that killed three people and left three others injured on Saturday night.

Authorities revealed on Sunday that Duke Webb, 37, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and faces three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. Webb, a Florida resident and active military member, is currently being held without bond and will make his first court appearance Monday afternoon, according to WIFR.

Police responded to Don Carter Lanes around 7 p.m. Saturday after receiving calls of shots fired. According to Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea, there were six victims as a result of the shooting. The three victims killed were all men, aged 73, 69, and 65. Among the injuries was a 14-year-old male who was shot in the face, a 16-year-old female who was shot in the shoulder, and a 62-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition. All three were taken to hospitals for treatment, and the 16-year-old has since been released. The 14-year-old male is in stable condition.

Late Saturday night, O’Shea told reporters that officials believed they had the “only individual we believe at this point to be involved” in custody. Authorities have believe it to be a random attack.

Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said he felt “anger and saddened” by the shooting in a statement posted to Facebook.

“My thoughts are with the families of those who lost loved ones,” McNamara said. “I’m also thinking of those who were injured and my hopes are with them for a quick and full recovery.”

The Rockford Police Department told the Washington Examiner that the investigation is active and ongoing.

Don Carter Lanes did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner for comment.
