March for Life shows how to hold an actually peaceful protest amid a pandemic

Antifa spent most of last year looting and ransacking entire cities under the guise of the Black Lives Matter movement, causing a record $1 billion in damage. Then, this year kicked off with maskless Trump supporters storming the Capitol in the hopes of stealing the election. They failed, of course, and their only success was winding up with five people, including a police officer, dead.

So, after all of that, this year’s March for Life has been a treat.

The march occurs every year with plenty of passion for the unborn and a total absence of violence. This year has been no exception. Even better, unlike the disgraceful display of the “protest” before the Capitol storming, the usual 100,000 March for Life attendees listened to the direction of the organizers and are participating virtually. The designated dozens of people invited to the physical march in Washington, D.C., are wearing masks and social distancing.

“The protection of all of those who participate in the annual March, as well as the many law enforcement personnel and others who work tirelessly each year to ensure a safe and peaceful event, is a top priority of the March for Life,” the organizers announced earlier in the month. “In light of the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic which may be peaking, and in view of the heightened pressures that law enforcement officers and others are currently facing in and around the Capitol, this year’s March for Life will look different.”

The speakers list is still robust, and surely the media won’t ignore the march any more than they usually do. But the march still deserves commendation for exemplifying how an actual peaceful protest amid a pandemic ought to be done.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed the lives of nearly half a million Americans over the last year and nearly 4,000 just yesterday. The March for Life has lived up to its mission statement in deciding to make the sacrifice of a real in-person rally, and everyone, pro-life or not, should applaud them.

The marchers aren’t winning the hearts of our next generation by storming or looting Planned Parenthoods. They’re relying on messaging and, in practice, on science and actual peaceful protesting.

Black Lives Matter demonstrators claimed to want to uphold the dignity of life, and the Capitol crazies claimed to want to prevent an election theft. Where both failed, the March for Life succeeded.
