Liberal actor Matt Damon is known for his action films, which is why his comments about gun control come off as hypocritical, a point many made while Damon trended on Facebook.
Appearing in Sydney, Australia to promote “Jason Bourne,” Damon expressed support for Australia’s gun ban.

He also spoke out against those who disagree. “You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can’t,” he said.
“Maybe we just need to evolve further before we can have that conversation, I don’t know,” Damon said. A program as extreme as Australia’s is likely not simply a matter of “evolv[ing] further” while the Second Amendment is still in place.
In 1996 and 2003, Australia confiscated guns under a compulsory buyback program, which Damon praised.
“It’s wonderful what Australia did because you guys haven’t had a mass shooting since you went, ‘No, we’re going to be sensible about this.’ And nobody’s rights have been infringed, you guys are fine. I wish we could be sensible like that but I don’t think that’s going to happen in my lifetime,” he said.
Operating under a different constitution from Australia’s, it’s not likely nobody would have their rights infringed in the United States if they were ordered to surrender their guns.
Damon isn’t the only liberal to express his views on gun control by calling out others. Last month, House Democrats showcased their stupidity and hypocrisy while engaging in their sit-in over gun control.
Hillary Clinton has also expressed potential support for the Australian program. Damon is just a Hollywood actor, but unfortunately for gun owners, Hillary could be running the country.
Australia hasn’t just stopped with guns either. The country plans to kill off 2 million feral cats by 2020.
