Clintons attend VIP screening of ‘The Giver’ in the Hamptons, had to watch dystopian world that resulted from progressive policies

Bill and Hillary Clinton attended a VIP screening of “The Giver” at producer Harvey Weinstein’s Hamptons home Sunday night and we imagine that it got a little awkward.

The dystopian world presented in “The Giver” is the product of generations of progressive policy and the nanny state. The “community” the characters live in puts everyone on a  predetermined path in everything from schooling and jobs to marriage and children. Choice, pain, and love have all been eliminated to create a conflict-free, classless society.

The movie shows the value of the freedom of choice. It also has strong pro-life undertones and decries the nanny-state at every turn.

Obviously the world in “The Giver” is an extreme depiction, but many of Hillary’s own views were distinctly challenged by the film.

Hillary has spoken out numerous times asking for violent images and video games to be banned. She is a strong proponent of gun control and loudly pro-choice. She also publicly discussed the need for a classless society. In 2008, she said that as president, she would appoint a “cabinet-level poverty czar” focused to “ending poverty as we know it.”

Maybe Hillary just ignored the political premonitions in the movie and focused on her good friend Meryl Streep, who plays the community’s Chief Elder.

Page Six reports that Streep couldn’t make it to the screening due to a “scheduling conflict.”

Chelsea Clinton, along with Seth Meyers, Ralph  Lauren, and Jon Bon Jovi were all reportedly in attendance with Bill and Hillary.

“The Giver” stars Katie Holmes and Jeff Bridges also traveled to Hamptons for the event.
