NRA: ‘This is a do or die election’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton came under attack Friday by National Rifle Association executives who urged 5 millions members to reject her candidacy due to her opposition to guns.

NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, opening the 145th NRA Annual Convention here, said if elected, “we’ll be kissing our Second Amendment freedoms goodby…you can kiss your guns goodby.”

He and his deputy, chief NRA lobbyist Chris W. Cox, even suggested that prison, not the White House, was where they want Clinton, an apparent reference to the lingering email scandal dogging her candidacy.

LaPierre, for example, talked about Clinton wearing “an orange jump suit.”

And his deputy, Chris W. Cox, the group’s chief lobbyist, mocking Clinton’s call for new and free social benefit programs, said, “Hillary that place does exist and you might just get to live there. It’s called prison.”

Both aggressively assaulted Clinton and concerns that she will shift the Supreme Court from conservative to liberal, and they warned that the change will promote anti-gun laws.

“It ends with no right to own a gun in your home anywhere in America,” said Cox.

He and LaPierre urged a packed hall at the Kentucky Exposition Center to unite behind Republican Donald Trump, who they endorsed. “Now is the time to unite if your prefered candidate dropped out of the race, get over it,” said Cox. “This is a do or die election.”

LaPierre said Trump offers “the American Dream.”
