The White House’s refusal to release emails between President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton follows a precedent set by previous administrations, Obama spokesman Eric Schultz asserted Friday.
Presidents are allowed, as Obama has in this case, to invoke executive privilege over internal administration communications during their tenure.
The Obama administration in July refused the House Select Benghazi Committee’s subpoena for emails between the two regarding Libya policy.
“I don’t believe those emails will be released,” Schultz told reporters traveling with President Obama Friday.
