Man struck, killed by Metro car

Metro says a man who was struck by a train at the Potomac Avenue station has died. Spokeswoman Candace Smith says the incident happened at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday. Trains had been sharing a single track between the Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory stations. But Smith says trains have returned to normal service. Officials say crews removed the man from under the train and took him to a hospital, where he died. – AP

Man dies in motorcycle crash in Woodbridge

A man died in a motorcycle crash Friday night, Prince William Police said. The victim, 21-year-old Stephen Lewis Stone, crashed at Beau Ridge Drive and Traverser Court in Woodbridge at about 9:15 p.m. He was transported to Potomac hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. Speed, and the fact the victim was not wearing a helmet, contributed to his death, police said. – David Sherfinski

Fairfax County police probe home invasion

Fairfax County police are investigating a bizarre home invasion in the 7800 block of Audubon Avenue in the Alexandria area. Around 2 p.m. Thursday, a masked man kicked in the front door of a residence, showed a handgun to a woman inside the home and told her not to move. He then went to the back door and let in another man. Both men were wearing black clothing and black masks. The suspects fled out the back door when a friend of the woman walked through the front door. No items were stolen and there were no injuries. – Scott McCabe

Police seek Woodbridge carjacking culprit

Police are searching for a man in a carjacking off Route 1 in Woodbridge. About 9:30 a.m. Friday, two men pulled a woman from a green Toyota Corolla at apartments in the 1300 block of East Longview Drive and took the car. Police pursued the stolen vehicle up Prince William County Parkway until it crashed at the intersection of Minnieville Road. Police captured one man but the second man ran off and remained on the loose. – Scott McCabe
