VIDEO: Despite potential ramifications, immigration activists urge executive action

Immigration activists and Democratic lawmakers gathered on Capitol Hill Wednesday to urge President Obama to move forward with his planned executive actions to fix the country’s immigration system.

Following November’s midterm elections that brought in a wave of Republican lawmakers, both parties have dug in on the issue. Republicans have insisted that if Obama moves forward without Congressional approval he’ll fracture an already bad relationship between the White House and Republicans.

Democrats have since argued that Republicans won’t move on immigration and are left with no choice but to have the president move forward.

The White House has maintained that executive actions will come before the end of the year.
