Mike Pence would take a lie detector test ‘in a heartbeat’ to prove he isn’t the NYT op-ed author

Vice President Mike Pence said he would be willing to take a lie detector test to prove he is not the anonymous author of a New York Times opinion piece that spoke of secret “resistance” within the Trump administration.

During an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Pence said he does not know the identity of the “anonymous” author of the op-ed that was published on Wednesday.

Host Chris Wallace then asked: “Should all top officials take a lie detector test, and would you agree to take one?”

Pence replied: “I would agree to take it in a heartbeat and would submit to any review the administration wanted to do.”

Asked if the administration should use a lie detector test, Pence said it was up to President Trump.

“But look,” he continued. “I think — the honorable thing to do here is for this individual to recognize that they are — they’re literally violating an oath. If they are that senior administration official — that they’re violating an oath, not to the president, but to the Constitution.”

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said on Thursday that Trump would be “justified” in using lie detector tests to find the anonymous author.
