Hillary Clinton defended her use of a private email server while secretary of state and apologized Monday to the American people that her correspondence is “so boring.”
Clinton spoke during a “Pancakes and Politics” town hall in New Hampshire, televised by NBC’s “Today.”
The Democratic front-runner has often been criticized for being too closed off on the campaign trail and even her secretive use of a private email server has contributed to that reputation, leading many voters to tell pollsters they view her as “untrustworthy.”
But when “Today” host Savannah Guthrie asked Clinton if she knew “how bad it looks,” the former secretary of state defended her transparency.
“First of all it was allowed,” Clinton said. “I have gone further than anybody than I’m aware of in American history. Now it’s not a long history since we haven’t had emails that long – as long as we’ve had them, I’ve gone longer and farther to be as transparent as possible. Nobody else has done that. And by the time this is over, I’m a little embarrassed that the emails are so boring.”
