Sen. Harry Reid is leaving the Senate in style, guns blazing.
In a candid interview with CNBC’s John Harwood, the ex-Democratic Senate Majority Leader ripped on the Koch Brothers, his Republican counterpart Sen. Mitch McConnell (whom he called “a lump of coal”), conservative journalist Rush Limbaugh, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Reid did have kind words for some, including current Vice President Joe Biden, Greenspan’s successor Ben Bernanke and former President Bill Clinton.
But perhaps his most interesting comment was about who the Republicans would nominate for president in 2016.
“I don’t really care. I think they’re all losers,” he said when asked to give his opinion on the GOP’s prospects.
The 75-year-old Nevada Democrat, who in the midst of his fifth term, announced last month he would not run for re-election in 2016. In the interview, Reid predicted the Democrats would hold his seat in 2016 and his party’s chance of regaining Senate control would be “far better than 50-50.”
