Deer-herding helicopters collide, killing two

Two Robinson R22 helicopters hit each other while herding deer on a Texas ranch.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday that the two helicopters collided Wednesday morning near Hebbronville, Texas.

One helicopter was able to land but the other crashed and killed the two occupants, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Nathan Brandley. Two people were in the other helicopter, one of whom was injured and is in serious condition.

One of the two fatalities occurred at the scene, while the other person was flown to the Spohn Memorial Hospital in Alice before dying.

The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA are investigating the crash.
