YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — Officials at Yosemite National Park are set to close cabins in a popular lodging area as well as some employee housing because of the potential danger from falling rocks.
On Thursday park officials will release the first-ever report detailing areas that are prone to falling rocks in Yosemite Valley and the risk posed to visitors and staff. The study began in 2008 after thousands of tons of boulders rained from Glacier Point onto cabins in Curry Village, forcing schoolchildren to scramble for their lives.
