President Trump announced Thursday that he will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on June 12 in Singapore.
“The highly anticipated meeting between Kim Jong Un and myself will take place in Singapore on June 12th. We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!” Trump tweeted.

The announcement comes hours after Trump greeted three Americans as they returned from the U.S. after being held captive in North Korea.
The three men, Kim Dong-chul, Tony Kim, and Kim Hak-song, were brought back to the U.S. by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during his second trip to the country in the last two months.
Trump praised Kim for the release of the three detainees, but declined to say early Thursday if he had spoken with Kim ahead of high-stakes talks between the two countries about denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.
“My proudest achievement will be, this is a part of it, will be when we denuclearize that entire peninsula,” Trump said from a tarmac at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. “This is what people have been waiting for, for a long time … The true honor is going to be if we have a victory in getting rid of nuclear weapons.”
