Zach Galifianakis has pulled off another clever edition of his intentionally awkward interview program “Between Two Ferns.” This time, he’s ringing in the holidays with Samuel L. Jackson and Tobey Maguire.
In this latest episode, the funnyman of Hangover fame takes the opportunity to discuss the movie business with his guests, making digs at them and their films throughout. His jokes reference Die Hard: With a Vengeance, The Cider House Rules and Spiderman, among others.
He also wonders about Hollywood’s obsession with superheroes.
“Everybody’s got to be a superhero now?”
Maguire responds insightfully, “Only heroic people.”
“They asked me to be in one … Fat Albert,” Galifianakis adds. He also repeatedly targets Jackson for his starring role in Snakes on a Plane.
“You know what sandwich I get at my deli?” Galifianakis asks. “Snakes on a plain bagel.”
Jackson responds innocently, “Really, what’s on it?”
One of the most perfectly awkward moments of the video comes when Galifianakis gifts Jackson and Maguire copies of his film The Campaign. Maguire accepts the DVD, autographs it, and returns it to his host.
The Happy Holidays Edition of the show concludes with a shower of fake snow and a performance by Arcade Fire. The band treats the three actors to a rendition of “Little Drummer Boy.”
The video, published to Funny Or Die on December 18, already has 530,000 views. Check it out below.
