Jim Carrey has a ‘change of heart’ about “Kick-Ass 2”

Jim Carrey is singing a little bit of a different tune on his crusade against guns.

As one of Hollywood’s most vocal — and in a way that’s NSFW — advocates for gun-control, the comedian’s latest film has Carrey feeling a little guilty.  The much-anticipated sequel to ‘Kick-Ass’ is set to premiere mid-August, but Carrey has already taken to Twitter to denounce his involvement with movie.

Carrey must have recognized the hypocrisy of starring in a gun-touting film after mocking gun owners in a parody video called ‘Cold Dead Hand.’

In ‘Kick-Ass 2’ the actor plays Colonel Stars and Stripes — dually fighting the good fight as a born-again Christian and masked superhero fighting with his canines. But in real life, Carrey plays a gun control advocate who has no problem bashing Second Amendment advocates by calling them “motherf***ers” and claiming that certain gun owners’ souls aren’t “worth protecting.”

Even though Carrey claims he is not ashamed of the film, ‘Kick-Ass’ creator Mark Miller had some thoughts regarding Carrey’s renegade tweets and made his own comments on his website.

“As you may know, Jim is a passionate advocate of gun-control and I respect both his politics and his opinion, but I’m baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay eighteen months ago. Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called ‘Kick-Ass 2’ really has to do what it says on the tin.  A sequel to the picture that gave us HIT-GIRL was always going to have some blood on the floor and this should have been no shock to a guy who enjoyed the first movie so much,” Miller wrote.

The movie’s creator even described Carrey’s character as “charismatic,” claiming that the actor’s comments were surprising considering “you can see that something really fun and special is happening here” with Colonel Stars and Stripes and his dogs.

But if Carrey, estimated to be worth $150 million, really is still feeling guilty over his role in the movie, Tea Party activist Dana Loesch used her own Twitter account to offer a solution — return the payout from the movie.

As Carrey sang in his “Cold Dead Hand” single, Charlton Heston movies may no longer be in demand, but that doesn’t mean that the ‘Kick-Ass’ series has died in fans’ hearts.  Besides, fans have no reason to worry.

“No actors were harmed in the making of this production!” Miller said.
