Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar may not be a fan of “Desperate Housewives,” but he knows the dramedy’s star Eva Longoria Parker has enough glitz to give a voice to his coalition for the National Museum of the American Latino.
“I’ve never watched it,” Salazar said. “I think Eva’s great … she’s a star in life, a star in America and a star in our commission.”
At the House Triangle on Tuesday, House and Senate Latinos including Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J. and Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., partnered with producer Emilio Estefan and Parker to advocate for a potential museum in Washington to honor the Latino community.
Parker, in a form-fitted red dress and beige suede pumps, spoke briefly about her commitment to the coalition. A petite ball of affection, Parker showed interest in the discussion through giggles, smiles and warm embraces.
The actress mentioned she would attend The Fiesta Latina musical event at the White House Tuesday night, where she will be accompanied by fellow Hispanic celebrities including Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Jimmy Smits and George Lopez.
“It makes it sound like it’s only Latinos having this party, but it’s everybody,” Parker beamed.
