Phyllis Schlafly: Deportation is the answer to saving American jobs

Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly Wednesday made the case for deporting illegal immigrants to save American jobs, noting that it worked so effectively in the 1950s that many left the United States on their own.

In a double-barrelled shot at President Obama’s work visa program, that she said threatens to displace 330,000 high-tech American workers this year with cheaper foreign labor, Schlafly also urged voters to chose only a presidential candidate who promises to curb immigration.

In a memo posted on her Eagle Forum website about the GOP’s immigration debate, she wrote:

The wages of working Americans have been stagnant for many years, and part of the reason is our high levels of immigration (both legal and illegal) and the many different guest worker programs. Tell your member of Congress to tighten up or eliminate those programs, and support presidential candidates who put American workers first.

Don’t let anyone tell you that we can’t deport the people who came illegally or stayed in our country after their temporary visas expired. It’s well documented that President Dwight Eisenhower peacefully removed at least 1 million illegal aliens in June 1954 and sent them back to Mexico, including many who got the message and left on their own.

She cited the work of Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions and his recent claim that 330,000 tech workers face elimination if the president moves ahead with his plan to issue more H-1B work visas.

Schlafly and Sessions have endorsed Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
