Hillary Clinton will announce Wednesday in New York that as president she wants to create a national Office of Immigrant Affairs.
The federal office would help immigrants and refugees settle in the United States, and help coordinate federal, state and local activities, programs and policies, according to a campaign aide.

The office would also implement recommendations made by an Obama administration task force in April 2015 and would ensure “a dedicated place in the White House where integration services are studied and coordinated across the government.”
Clinton will unveil the proposal Wednesday as she receives an endorsement from the New York State Immigrant Fund, one of the largest immigrant rights groups in New York.
The news comes less than a day after rival Sen. Bernie Sanders blasted Clinton for not supporting drivers licenses for illegal immigrants in the U.S. when she was a New York senator. Clinton countered by saying Sanders voted against a 2007 immigration overhaul.
