House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is holding a press conference with House GOP leadership on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The briefing comes as Congress pushes to pass all 12 appropriations bills before the partial government shutdown deadline next Friday. The House will have to pass four more spending bills before sending them to the Senate for a final vote on the remaining six spending bills in order to avert the funding lapse.

Johnson is projecting confidence this week, writing on X that he is proud of the GOP for going with a committee-based approach rather than a “bloated omnibus bill.”
“As promised, House Republicans are restoring regular order and returning the appropriations process to a committee-led approach, as it should be. The House has already passed eight conferenced appropriations bills with overwhelming support, and we expect a similar outcome for the final four bills on the House floor this week,” Johnson wrote.
