A House Democrat on Friday introduced a resolution calling for this week to be “Balance Awareness Week,” just two days before Hillary Clinton lost her balance at a 9/11 ceremony in New York.
Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson’s resolution seeks to raise awareness about vestibular disorders, or problems with the inner ear that can cause people to lose their balance.
The Texas Democrat’s resolution says about 69 million people in the U.S. have experienced this kind of problem, and that older people have this problem routinely.
“… 80 percent of people 65 years of age and older have experienced dizziness,” the resolution stated.
It recommended that this week should be named “Balance Awareness Week” to highlight these problems.
On Sunday, Clinton lost her balance and seemed unresponsive, and had to be ushered into a van before a 9/11 ceremony in New York ended.
Clinton’s team first said she “overheated,” but them acknowledged that she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday.
Clinton appeared later in the day and said she was feeling much better, but the incident has raised more questions about her health, her ability to run for president and the extent to which questions about her health have been kept from the press and the public.
