Slovak national security adviser resigns after Epstein texts revealed

Miroslav Lajcak, who has advised Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on foreign affairs and national security since last year, resigned on Saturday after the latest release of Epstein files showed him talking about young women with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The former adviser denied any wrongdoing on his part and condemned Epstein’s sexual crimes, but he explained that staying in his post would only put pressure on Fico.

“Not because of having done anything criminal or unethical in my actions, but I don’t want him to bear the political costs for something that’s unrelated to his decisions,” he said of the prime minister.

DOJ SAYS NO EPSTEIN FILES WERE REDACTED FOR NATIONAL SECURITY REASONS

Speaking in his native language in a video, Fico announced he had accepted Lajcak’s resignation.

Newly released messages showed Lajcak was in contact with Epstein on numerous occasions. “Lajcak” appears in the Department of Justice’s Epstein library nearly 350 times.

At one point in October 2018, Epstein texted Lajcak that he could “have” two girls and their sisters. Later in the exchange, Epstein said they’re “probably too young for you.”

Lajcak responded, “Don’t be mean. You don’t know me in action.” Epstein replied, “Now im going to have nightmares.”

Although Epstein’s name didn’t appear in that document, the phone number confirms it was indeed Epstein chatting with Lajcak. That number is included in a 2020 lawsuit filed by the U.S. Virgin Islands against Epstein’s estate.

In September 2018, the two engaged in locker-room talk about Moscow girls whom Epstein called Russia’s “best export.” Lajcak later said he doesn’t “have a girl next to me right now” because there are “too many eyes watching.”

Epstein texted that he had two girls, to which the Slovak diplomat replied, “Not fair!”

In one of their selective releases of the Epstein files, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee previously published an undated image of Lajcak and Epstein standing side by side.

Lajcak served as Slovakia’s foreign affairs minister from 2009 to 2010 and again from 2012 to 2020. He also served as president of the U.N. General Assembly from 2017 to 2018.

In 2008, Epstein was convicted by a Florida state court on charges related to procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute. He later faced federal sex trafficking charges, but those never went to trial before his suspected suicide in August 2019.

The DOJ released more than 3.5 million pages of investigative documents, as well as thousands of videos and images, on Friday in an effort to comply with a law passed by Congress and signed by President Donald Trump late last year.
