Washington Examiner Executive Editor Bob Cusack said Democratic leaders are resisting voter ID laws despite broad public support, arguing they recognize the political risk, particularly as debate intensifies over the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act.
“I think it’s really because the Democratic base — a lot of Democrats, and I’ve talked to a few of them — they know this is a losing issue for them,” Cusack said on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. “And Democrats privately know that’s not a winning issue.”
