Maryland senior Matt Furstenburg is on the watch list for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the nation’s best college tight end. Also on the list of 33 are ACC players Chris Pantale (Boston College) and Brandon Ford (Clemson).
Last year’s winner was Dwayne Allen (Clemson). Past winners of the award, which was established in 2000, include Heath Miller (Virginia), now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Fred Davis (USC), now with the Redskins.

Furstenburg (6-4, 245) had 31 catches last season for 348 yards, third best among ACC tight ends. He was on the midseason watch list for the Mackey Award, but failed to make the semifinalist list.
