McCain: Istanbul attack is proof Obama is not ‘squeezing’ terrorists

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said Wednesday the White House’s claim it is eliminating the Islamic State does not hold up after Tuesday’s suicide bombings in Istanbul, Turkey.

“Every time there’s one of these attacks, either the secretary of state or the president says they are being squeezed. After San Bernardino, they are being squeezed? How much more squeezing are we going to have to have?” McCain said to Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.

The Senate Armed Services chairman said he was not surprised by the bombing because members of the national intelligence community and the CIA had predicted additional attacks both domestic and overseas.

In order to defeat the growing Islamic State, McCain said the military must step up its current approach, but Obama has repeatedly shot down the Pentagon’s urging to do so. Until that happens, McCain said there will be more attacks.

“It’s just a given,” he finished.
